Exato, o problema foi causado por uma falha relacionado ao PHP. Como este codigo eh o mesmo em sistemas *nix, o SO na teve influencia.

Qualquer sistema mal configurado (inclusivo os free unices) pode ser tao vulneravel quanto aqueles da grandes software-houses. Dai a necessidade de administradores de rede/sistemas e especialistas em seguranca.
